Intrepid Youth

While in Hawaii earlier this year, my friend and I went on a photo tour with an Hawaiian-based photographer.  He took us to a watering hole near the South Point Park on the Big Island where daring locals jump into this cenote.  The challenge is timing the jump as the water rises and drains quickly with the incoming waves and avoiding the rocks as you go down.  My friend took this great picture of a jumper.  Would you jump?

Why a travel blog

I admit it – I don’t like to write much.  So why am I starting a travel blog? The simple answer is I love to travel.  I recently figured out that I’ve travel outside of the United States for pleasure over 25 times in the last 10 years, not to mention the trips within the U.S.  I’ve encountered interesting sights and quirks during the course of my travels beyond the usual tourist sights and experiences.  While I remember all these trip to some extent and have pictures laying around somewhere, I have not captured these interesting sights and quirks in any meaningful way and memories fade.  Since I’m not good at keeping track of paper and I change computers every few years, a travel blog seemed a good way to record them without having to figure out where to store them or remember where I put them in the first place.  It’s also an opportunity to share them with family and friends.  So I hope you enjoy the postings and please let me know what you think.
